1. Who these terms are between

These terms are between you and BeAlpha Group Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number 17391394, registered office 66 Paul Street, London, England, EC2A 4NA ("we", "us"). They apply when you download, install or use DebitMate for Windows or DebitMate for iPhone ("the software").

If you are buying as a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

2. What your licence allows

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the software for your own purposes — personal, household or your own business — on the number of devices your licence covers, for as long as the licence lasts.

We do not sell you the software itself; we license it. Everything in it apart from your own data remains ours.

3. Devices and seats

Every licence states the number of devices it covers. A Windows PC and an iPhone are two devices; they are not counted separately by platform, so one licence for two devices covers exactly that combination.

Devices claim their places in the order they first check in, and the first device on a licence keeps its place permanently. If a device beyond your allowance appears, it is the newer one that is affected — never the machine you have been using all along.

Replacing a device does not use one up permanently. Tell us and we will free the old one; this is routine and there is no charge for it. In the meantime the software keeps working: see the next section.

4. Licence checks and what they can do

When it has an internet connection, the software confirms its licence with our server about once a day. The privacy page lists every field in that request; it contains nothing about your finances.

The check exists so that we can (a) stop a licence that has been refunded or charged back, (b) judge expiry against the real date rather than a device's clock, and (c) see when one licence is being used on more devices than it covers.

We undertake the following, and they are binding on us:

• Being unable to check is never treated as a failed check. Offline, on a plane, or when our server is down, the software carries on exactly as before.
• The first device on a licence is never disabled by a licence check, whatever the check finds.
• A device beyond your allowance gets at least 30 days of warnings before any paid feature is affected, and the countdown starts once — reinstalling neither restarts it nor shortens it.
• Losing the paid features never means losing your data. Reading, searching and exporting everything you have entered continues to work regardless of licence state.

If we ever ceased trading and the licence server went away for good, the software would continue to work: your key is verified on your own device, and an unreachable server is not a failure.

5. What is not allowed

You may not:

• share, resell, sublicense or publish your licence key;
• use one licence on more devices than it covers;
• modify the software, or work around the licence check, in order to use it unlicensed;
• remove or obscure our name or notices from it.

You may inspect the software, monitor what it sends, decompile it to the extent UK law permits, run it in a virtual machine, and make backup copies of it and of your own data. None of that is prohibited here.

6. The trial

DebitMate can be used free for 30 days from first launch with every feature enabled. There is nothing to cancel, no card is taken and no account is created. When the trial ends the paid features stop; everything you entered during it remains readable and exportable, permanently.

7. Paying, renewing and refunds

Prices are shown on the pricing page and include VAT where it applies. We will tell you the price before you pay.

Annual licences run for one year from issue and do not renew automatically. Nothing is taken from your card without you asking; when a licence is close to expiring we will tell you, and it is your decision.

Lifetime licences do not expire and cover every DebitMate 2.x release. If we ever release a version 3 that is a genuine rewrite rather than a renaming, that would be a separate purchase — and we would say so plainly rather than retiring your licence and calling it an upgrade.

Refunds. Consumers have a 14-day right to cancel a purchase of digital content. We honour it in full and will not ask you to justify the request. Ask within 14 days of buying and we refund you and cancel the licence. Outside 14 days, ask anyway — if the software has not done what this site says it does, we would rather refund you than argue.

8. Your data

Everything you enter into DebitMate is yours and stays in a file on your own device. We hold no copy and can obtain none. We therefore cannot recover it for you if you lose it, and cannot access it if asked to by anyone else — including under a court order, because it is not ours to produce.

Keeping your own backups is genuinely your responsibility. The software exports full JSON backups and CSV files for exactly this reason.

9. Updates and support

While your licence is live you receive every update we publish for the version you own, including security fixes, at no extra cost. The Windows app can install them itself or simply tell you they exist.

Support is by email at support@debit-mate.com. We aim to reply within one working day. We do not guarantee a response time, and we do not pretend to offer a 24-hour service we could not staff.

10. What we do and do not promise

We promise that the software will do what this website says it does, and that it is supplied with reasonable care and skill. If it does not, tell us: we will fix it, or refund you.

We do not promise that it is free of every defect, that it will run on every configuration of Windows or every iPhone, or that it will be available without interruption — the licence server is a website and websites go down, which is precisely why the software does not depend on it.

11. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else which cannot lawfully be limited.

Subject to that, and because this is inexpensive software rather than a managed service, our total liability to you in connection with the software is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim.

We are not liable for loss of data where you had no backup of your own, for financial decisions taken on the basis of figures in the app, or for indirect or consequential losses. If you are a consumer, we are still liable for losses that were a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms.

12. Ending a licence

You may stop using the software at any time; delete it and the licence lapses.

We may suspend or cancel a licence if it was obtained fraudulently, if a payment is reversed, or if it is being used in clear breach of section 5 — for example, one key published publicly. Where we do, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right, unless it was plainly deliberate.

Cancelling a licence turns off the paid features. It does not, and cannot, prevent you reading and exporting your own records.

13. General

These terms are the whole agreement between us about the software. If any part of them is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.

We may change these terms for new purchases, and will publish the date of any change at the top of this page. Changes do not apply retrospectively to a licence you have already bought, except where required by law.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
